URGENT SMALL BUSINESS AND PRIMARY PRODUCER SUPPORT NEEDED FOR QUEENSLAND FLOODS

Federal financial support must be provided across South East Queensland, where communities are beginning the slow process of recovery.

Labor welcomes yesterday’s announcement that Federal financial assistance would be provided for small businesses, primary producers, councils and not-for-profit organisations in flood ravaged regions of New South Wales.

But small business owners and farmers across South East Queensland have survived two years of a pandemic, only to be hit hard by a flood not seen for many years. It is now vital that the Federal Government step up and provide the support needed to help them get back on their feet.

The Federal Government must provide the same support to Queensland that’s being provided to New South Wales, and they must do it fast.

We cannot afford to see the long delays in small business and primary producer support that we saw following the Black Summer bushfires.

Every day counts. Queensland farmers and small businesses need action today.
