ANOTHER CEO RESIGNS AT THE NO ACTUAL INFRASTRUCTURE FUND

ANOTHER CEO RESIGNS AT THE NO ACTUAL INFRASTRUCTURE FUND

Only four months after commencing, the Acting CEO of the Morrison-Joyce Government’s Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility has resigned.

This means the Government’s main investment fund for Northern Australia is now searching for its fourth boss in less than three years.

The Acting CEO was appointed following the mysterious resignation of former CEO Chris Wade just before he was due to appear at Senate Estimates in October 2021.

Right now, our north needs stable leadership and investment from our Federal Government.

Instead, Scott Morrison’s NAIF has become a revolving door of CEOs that just isn’t delivering what was promised.

Until the NAIF gets stable leadership, it will remain the No Actual Infrastructure Fund.

Last week, Senate Estimates revealed that just 10 per cent of the multi-billion dollar program has been spent since it was announced in 2015. Only $585.2 million has been released to projects across Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

Just weeks ago, Minister David Littleproud announced another $2 billion for the ‘No Actual Infrastructure Fund’.

How can Northern Australians believe Scott Morrison and his Government will spend $2 billion more when it’s spent less than a quarter of that in seven years?

It seems staff based in Northern Australia still aren’t a high priority either. More employees continue to work in Sydney than across all the entire north.

Northern Australians deserve a government that actually builds projects and creates jobs, not one that makes big promises and never delivers. That’s what our north will get from an Albanese Labor Government.
